 Care and Maintence of your Oriental Rugs
Vacuum your Oriental rugs regularly, being sure to go back and forth in the same direction over the entire
rug. Never vacuum the rugs fringes as this will cause the fringes to tear and fray.
Every few years, depending on how much traffic the rug recieves, have it professionally cleaned.
Rotate your Oriental Rugs.
Frequently rotate the rug from sunny areas to the other side of the room
to equalize the effect of the sun. Continuous exposure to bright hot sun rays and even indirect sunlight
will cause damage to the dyed fabrics used in Oriental rugs. Rotate when you notice the high traffic
areas of your rug starting to look dirty, or the nap has lost its original direction or shape.
Rotating your rugs will allow them to wear more evenly, maintaining their original appearance
and value.
Using Padding
Good quality padding protects the rug especially in heavily trafficked areas. The use of the proper padding
is critical for handmade rugs. Use a quality rug pad underneath and choose the correct pad depending on the surface your rug is sitting on,
be it wood or carpet. Having pads under your rug actually increases the life of your rug!
